Michael Phelps Statement
I engaged in behavior which was regrettable and demonstrated bad judgment. I’m 23-years-old, and despite the successes I have had in the pool, I acted in a youthful and inappropriate way, not in a manner that people have come to expect from me. For this, I am sorry. I promise my fans and the public – it will not happen again. |

Hi you are so awesome! You were great on SNL! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT LET IT HAPPEN AGAIN. Now, go to the pool and swim. Take out your anger and disappointment out in the pool. Chlorine will wash it away.

Hey Michael, I have respect for you for putting out that blog. Everyone makes mistakes, you are no exception, just very high profile. We all makes mistakes and learn from them! We are behind you 1million %. No one is perfect, you are only human! Don't know why you'd want to do this for, but thats life. You are still a huge inspirations to me and others. You don't know how much you truly helped my pick back up my dreams and go for em. Thanks for that. Just remember your family,friends and fans are more important and vauleable that this act you did. Your reputation once it's gone it's gone. Just never do this again. You have so much courage. keep things into perspective. forgive yourself. you've had much success, don't let the perceived 'cool' things sway you away from all that you've worked hard for. in the end, those 'cool' things start looking very uncool as you get older and more mature. we can all learn from our mistakes, look forward to what you can be and where you can go from here...it's a waste of time for you and all of your fans to focus on what you've done or what you are. live each day to be your best. you've done it before and can show up again. good luck -- may you move forward with self love and forgiveness -- |

Don't worry about it, Michael. We all make mistakes, and you are human too. You have done well apologizing. You're still an inspiration for a lot of people, one mistake won't change it. The important thing is that you will not repeat this behaviour, so go on swimming and do it your best in the pool ;) My best wishes for you, Michael.

"It won't happen again???" But I seem to recall you getting a DUI awhile back...and you apologised then too. So substance abuse seems perhaps possibly to make occasional problems for you???? A role model athlete sucking a bong??? It matters Michael, children/teens look up to you. |

Michael, We all make mistakes. We just have to learn from them. Because you are who you are, your life is going to be under a microscope. Any 23 year old can make the same "choice" you made and no one would know. You make a wrong move and the whole world watches. Be smart, be who you are. You have many fans who are rooting for you and are waiting to see what other amazing feats your will accomplish. Take care of yourself, remember there are many who love you. May God bless you. P.S. Remember to think of your mother. I am the mother of a 25 year old son and believe me, we worry about our boys! |

Dearest Michael.....Thank you for ur statement...just a note to say I will stand behind u on this ...Jesus fell 3x on the way to calvary....also in scipture about the woman who commited adultury....Jesus said "He who has not sinned throw the first stone"everyone walked away!...when she looked at Jesus he said...woman they did not condem you, neither do I....go and sin no more....We as humans need to look at each other with kindness when other's r in need of help...or have done something not in good judgement!.....this was bound to happen Michael....personally I do not know how u manage the schedule u do and train and want to please every person that comes ur way...too much pressure too soon! No one could handle the pressure u have been under and come away clean from this, except GOD himself.....I am proud of u for acknowledging ur fault and at least willing to be committed to making right...U R still a role model...someone that has walked the walk and came out of it a better person not only to ur fans but mostly to yourself.....We will always support u and I wish u all the best in the future and with ur training....God Bless u Michael and everyone here at swimroom.com......:)

As a mother of a 9 year old swimmer I am disappointed in you and your behavior now and during the last few months. You have every right to vacation and down time, but you broke the law and you expect people to condone your actions and your arogance is disturbing. I am a single mother raising a son and there are enough drugs in the streets and schools. Having a role model smoke weed is not good. You need to do more than a prepared statement from your manager. Hope there are not morals clauses in your contracts. You would not pass. |

Unlike POTUS 42, congratulations for NOT claiming you never inhaled Unless you stay away from H2O for the rest of your life, and resort to plastic surgery, you are always within six degrees of separation from a encore engagement the likes of: At least the photo and story broke on Super Bowl Sunday. Combined with the awful economic news, your prompt apology may chop some of the legs of this story.

I think the way people are treating you is horrid. Yes, so what if you engaged in drugs. Everyone has done something along those lines once in their lives. What Michael Phelps did was extraordinary. He won seven gold medals for the United States. He put swimming back on the map. I respect Michael inside the pool and out. What he did in Beijing was nothing short but of a miracle. I respect that he takes full credit and responsibility and apologizes. I cannot stand people saying that Michael failed them that he is awful. Firstly—what kind of fans are you not to stand behind him. Everyone makes mistake—Michael Phelps is human, not some god. Give him a break and cut him some slack. We are behind you Michael and we forgive, love and admire you. You are nothing short but of a good person who made a mistake. We forgive you, admire you, and love you. |

I have posters up in my room and everything. If my parents find out that you smoked marijuana there gunna rip them to shreds. Please don't ever do something like this again. I believe in you in you Mr. Phelps. Your a huge inspiration to me and many other teens. Just remember that. Sometimes being famous comes with hardships...I guess one of those hardships would be being able to be a positive role model for all the annoying people (like myself) who constantly look to you for inspiration. Well, your still cool. Just be careful!
